In July 1978 Graham and Inez Cunningham opened Sevens' first store in the Cresta Shopping Centre. They had just sold their share in a successful furnitue group and wanted to open a store that offered well styled, quality furniture at affordable prices, backed by excellent personal service - a concept that Sevens adheres to, to this day.
In 1992 the building at 242 Beyers Naude iIn 2002 Sevens purchased land in Fourways and built their flagship store. This unique store with its Dockside architecture featuring brick, steel and glass over six levels creates an oasis for quality furniture displayed in room settings with natural light. The 16m high surrounding windows enables them to display their beautiful couches, available in various fabric and leather finishes, and other furniture, to their clients and decorators.
The Papachino's restaurant chain operates their flagship from the Sevens building Fourways, utilising the synergy between a successful retail store and restaurant combined with ample safe and secure parking and a children's playground.
During 2006, Sevens acquired land in Kya Sands and built a 13000m2 warehouse complex. This distribution centre enables the group to hold stock levels of superior quality designs and brands, ensuring a continuous, uninterrupted flow of product to their customers.
2008 heralded the acquisition of a new site in the Silver Lakes area of Pretoria East. Sevens has constructed a landmark building on the corner of Graham Rd and Silver Lakes Drive, which opened in April 2010. This new store has a different look-and-feel than the other stores and adds a touch of glamour to their existing range of lounge, bedroom, dining room, outdoor and office ranges.n Northcliff was purchased, revamped and extended to create a six level showroom with warehouse. Here they extended their range of sofas, lounge suites, dining room suites, bedroom suites, office furniture and outdoor furniture, as well as homely accessories.
Sevens' buyers sourced the world for the best in design, flair and quality in contemporary and classic furniture and accessories, and today Sevens imports sofas, leather lounge suites, reclaimed teak dining suites and beautiful chrome products from several Eastern countries and bedroom, dining and office furniture from Europe, as well as producing quality products in South Africa, thereby continually setting the trends in home and office furniture.
